Il Cistus incanus

< 1 min

Cistus incanus is part of the Cistaceae family, covering the rocks of the island regions near the sea, dyeing them magnificent bright colours when in bloom.
The healing properties of this shrub have been known since ancient times, so much so that one of its extracts, ladanum, was used in popular medicine to fight infections. Even Genesis refers to this Mediterranean plant as a kind of panacea for all ills. A tradition that has been maintained over time, and is still common in the Greek islands, is to serve Cistus Tea as an energy drink.
Modern science has discovered that Cistus incanus contains the highest content
of polyphenols ever found in a European plant. Myricetin, quercetin and kaempferol are just some of these powerful substances, which have proved able to regulate the immune response, particularly that of the respiratory system. Thanks to its virtues, Cistus incanus therefore, helps to protect against colds and other winter ailments, and also defend against pollution.
