According to the leading scientific company that deals with headaches, the International Headache Society, there are over 100 types of this disorder. But there are two main categories:
• Migraines: the pain is pulsating and usually affects only one side of the head, with symptoms such as nausea and hypersensitivity to light, smells, noise. Typical of the premenstrual period, it gets worse with physical activity and attacks last from 4 to 72 hours.
• Tension-type headaches: these are the most common headaches, characterized by a pain that envelops the whole head like a circle getting tighter. It is characteristic of stress due to poor posture and improves with
physical activity.
